{"id":529,"date":"2011-07-12T14:08:43","date_gmt":"2011-07-12T20:08:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rodeoclassifieds.com\/blog\/?p=529"},"modified":"2011-07-19T13:11:23","modified_gmt":"2011-07-19T19:11:23","slug":"joleen-seitz-advances-to-showdown-sunday-at-the-2011-calgary-stampede","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.rodeoclassifieds.com\/blog\/joleen-seitz-advances-to-showdown-sunday-at-the-2011-calgary-stampede\/","title":{"rendered":"Joleen Seitz Advances to Showdown Sunday at the 2011 Calgary Stampede"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Joleen Seitz, of Savona, BC ended her last day in Pool A on a high note.\u00a0 Joleen placed <em>1st<\/em> in the first go, tied for <em>3\/4<\/em> in the second go, was <em>4th<\/em> in the third go and <em>won<\/em> the final go of Pool A making her overall money won $16,500.\u00a0 This amount also placed her 1st overall in Pool A advancing her to the Showdown Sunday for her chance at $100,000 and the Calgary Stampede Championship.\u00a0 Joleen has won the $100,000 prize once before at the Stampede (in 2006) so she will be hoping to redo that again this year!<\/p>\n<p>Joleen has been running her main mount Guy at the Stampede. \u00a0Guy is 15 years old and isn\u2019t registered.\u00a0 Joleen has been running barrels on him for about 9 years now.\u00a0 Guy was voted Ladies Barrel Racing Horse with the Most Heart for 2005 and 2006. \u00a0 She runs him in a treeless saddle with a Professional Choice saddle pad.\u00a0 The bit that Joleen runs Guy in has a nose piece with a bar (she isn\u2019t sure on the actual name of it).\u00a0 With all of the travelling that Joleen does on the rodeo trail she likes to ride every day to keep him legged up and feeling good.\u00a0 If Guy\u2019s made a few runs then she likes to give him a few days off.<\/p>\n<p>The ground on the last day of Pool A\u2019s competition (Monday, July 11<sup>th<\/sup>) was very sloppy but Guy seemed to handle it very well clocking a time of 17.93 to win the go.\u00a0 This time was very close with their previous times of 17.84, 18.01 and 18.02 (2<sup>nd<\/sup> place on Monday was an 18.20 posted by Lauren Byrne).\u00a0 Regardless of the ground conditions or arena, Joleen likes to ride Guy the same every time and not change her riding style.\u00a0 Joleen said Guy doesn\u2019t seem to mind running in mud because he normally will always do okay running on it.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no surprise that Joleen\u2019s favourite part of the Stampede is the barrel racing and the prize money that is up for grabs.\u00a0 Joleen also likes the Stampede because it is exciting, lots of fun and there is always a great crowd.<\/p>\n<p>Joleen along with Deb Renger, Brittany Pozzi and Lindsay Sears are the top 4 money earners from Pool A advancing to Showdown Sunday.\u00a0 Joleen\u2019s plan for the first run on Sunday is to \u201chopefully ride good and have a good run.\u201d\u00a0 Joleen offered a simple but sweet rodeo tip for all of us following:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cKeep your chin up and be thankful for your horse.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Joleen would like to thank Calgary for being so great and she would also like to thank her family.<\/p>\n<p>You can watch the Stampede live each day on CBC by going <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/sports\/calgarystampede\/live-video.html\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For go round draws and results you can go to the Calgary Stampede Official Website <a href=\"http:\/\/cs.calgarystampede.com\/events\/rodeo\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the Day 1 Highlights from the Stampede, Joleen won the first go with a time of 17.84 seconds:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"July 8th Rodeo Hilites\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uy1nnTQNbII?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
