We just recently talked with Cora Guest who is from Lloydminster, SK.\u00a0 Cora has been busy placing at rodeos in the Wildrose Rodeo Association.\u00a0 She currently is sitting in 3rd spot in the standings with a total of 1,025 points won.\u00a0 Cora recently just won the ladies barrel racing at the 2011 Barrhead, AB Rodeo with a time of 17.778 seconds.\u00a0 Guest also placed 4th at Valleyview Rodeo that same weekend.\u00a0 Here is what Cora had to tell us:<\/p>\n

-What is the name of your horse?\u00a0 Memory Of Diamonds aka Memory<\/span><\/p>\n

-How old is your horse?\u00a0 She is 11 years old this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

-What is the training background on her?\u00a0 I bought her from my aunt when she was 6 years old.\u00a0 She ran on the race track until I bought her.\u00a0 I have done all of the barrel training on Memory.<\/span><\/p>\n

-What is your training and riding style with Memory?\u00a0 Memory is a very turny kind of style.\u00a0 Really sets a hock.\u00a0 She is very round and supple.<\/span><\/p>\n

-What is it you liked best about her?\u00a0 I really like that Memory is light to handle, not heavy in the turns.<\/span><\/p>\n

-How did you feel your runs were this past few weekends?\u00a0 My runs these last few weekends have been good.\u00a0 Barrhead was really nice.\u00a0 She ran so smooth, not fancy but smooth.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

-How do you prepare for your runs (warm up etc)?\u00a0 When I warm up I do lots of bending and lifting her rib cage.<\/span><\/p>\n

-What kind of saddle do you use?\u00a0 I use a Crown C Martin Saddle<\/span><\/p>\n

-What kind of pad do you use?\u00a0 A Won pad<\/span><\/p>\n

-What kind of bit do you use?\u00a0 A Sherry Cervi long shank <\/span><\/p>\n

-How do you keep your horses in shape with all the traveling?\u00a0 During the week, I do light riding and sometimes I just pony her with a young horse.\u00a0 I also do some light barrel work.<\/span><\/p>\n

-Are there any specific goals you have set for yourself and your horse this season?\u00a0 I really wanted to make the LRA (Lakeland Rodeo Association) Finals, and we did.\u00a0 So that is awesome.<\/span><\/p>\n

*Cora is sits in 6th spot in the LRA Standings with $5,624.00 won.\u00a0 The LRA Finals are to take place September 1-4th.\u00a0 Good luck Cora and Memory!<\/p>\n

-What lead you to be a barrel racer?\u00a0 I just love riding horses and barrel racing is so fun.\u00a0 The competition is so fierce but so great.\u00a0 I love it.<\/span><\/p>\n
