Re: Best Fly Sheet

Just an update . . . I tried the Shedrow from Greenhawk, the price was right . . . I did have to return them and order a larger size than I usually do to get the front/chest area to fit (it didn't meet in the middle, buckles would do up but there was a gap, and my horses are not chunky or wide in th...

Re: Rural Internet Service

You can tether your iphone to your computer and run your internet off of that. Not sure if it would work in your situation or with more than one computer, but that is what I am using and it is working great - cancelled my other internet. Of course you would have to have good phone service in your ar...

Re: Stallions with sarcoids

Xterra is the best thing to use. Like someone already said the flat ones will sometimes go away on their own. As far as genetic goes, supposedly it is not, but there is some connection there, could be some are more susceptible due to genetics or maybe the mare passes it to the foal ???? We have foun...

Best Fly Sheet

What has everyone found to be the best fitting fly sheet. Something that won't roll and won't rub the shoulders or withers. I was buying from Schneiders because they had the adjustable neck and these were okay but they take forever to come and the shipping is ridiculously high, so need some other su...

Re: First Time clearing/fencing... help?

None of these things are 100% safe. I always err on the side of caution because we never know what the effects will be years down the road and neither do the companies no matter what study they may do and most will not do a 10 or 15 year study, so they really don't know. No study is 100% either. Usi...

Re: First Time clearing/fencing... help?

Even though they say you can leave animals on when using Grazon, I would not do it. What the chemical companies say is safe and what is really safe are two different things. I would still leave them off for a week or more. They also claim you can drink Roundup . . . There may not be any immediate ef...

Re: back on track shirts

They also have neck dickies which might work for a neck and shoulder problem, then you could put any shirt over it. But, the t-shirts are nice - I have the long sleeved one and really like it. We also use their hock boots a lot with really good results.

Re: Stall Rest

We did 3 months of stall rest last summer with a torn ligament. We bought him large blow up balls - he did destroy the first one and needed another one but then we just started buying the $ 9.99 ones at Wallmart and let him destory it, patch it up when we could and use another when it was totally ou...

Re: Wobbly hocks - opinions please

We have two like that, both in their teens, no issues yet and they both have been ridden a lot over the years. No stifle problems, ever, on these two either. Now that someone mentioned this and I think about it these two are the ones that really have not had any lameness issues, possibly because the...

Re: Is This A Scam??

If they don't ask the usual questions about the horse that is your first clue. If someone were sending that amount of money for something they should at least want to talk to you on the phone. You see these with anything you have for sale they just substitute horse for car or llama or whatever.

Re: Best Vets For Lameness Issues

I haven't used Edmonton, so can't really say what they are like, but I have heard that people get good results there, costly though . . . As far as the U of S, we haven't had good luck there in them actually finding a lameness problem unless is it glaringly obvious. They do a lot of tests and come u...

Re: Growing Tails?

I would do a skin test with the MTG - I have had 2 horses have reactions to it and their hair actually fell out!!! Yes, horses that are sensitve to chemicals or just have sensitive skin could have a reaction to it. It is a petroleum based product so there are toxic petro chemicals in it. Mi...

Re: What makes you call about a horse?

Photos and/or video of the horse doing his job and just of the horse itself.
One thing that irritates me is a photo of a barrel horse turning a barrel and no other photos, or a reining horse sliding and no other photos - If I am considering buying a horse I also want to see what it looks like.

Re: What makes you call about a horse?

GOOD QUESTION! What would make me call would be first that I was actually looking to buy something and not just browsing around - which I tend to do, but I DO NOT make any inquiries unless I am serious, which I am afraid to say that a lot of people do - they ask questions, ask for photos and more in...
