Re: Razer Shoes

I talked to my farrier (in Texas) about them. He states they are a fad. He has an argument that it is hard to beat the old, faithful, successful shoes that people have used for so long. After hearing his side of things, I don't think I would every use them.. JMO

Re: Bad Cough, what to do?

I have been in constant contact with the vet. His temp is normal. The rest of our horses are fine, showing no signs of any type or cold. The vet has never said that I shouldn't be taking this horse where he will be in contact with other horses. I would never take an infected horse to an event in the...

Bad Cough, what to do?

My 5 year old futurity horse has a terrible, terrible cough, and of course it is worse when I ride him. I am sure time off would be the best thing for him, but I can't afford to give him time off right now, I have a futurity this weekend. Along with the cough, he is weezy and he has a nasty snotty n...

Growing Tails?

The terrible happened while I was home for Christmas holidays. I came back to my horses, which I hadn't seen in close to a month  and my one horse's tail is gone! Well, it's not completely gone, but it is chopped off straight above his hocks. So, my question is, does anybody have any ti...

Mixing Supplements

I have a horse that has been on Smooth Run with Calmer for years. He is fairly high strung, and it is something I have always given him. In the past couple of months he is still as wired as he usually is, but he just isn't running like he was. He is not sore, he looks good, etc. I started to give hi...

Re: Thoughts, Opinions?

I personally think it is a cool idea, although I could not go due to college, nor could many other college girls. I think it would be a tough, exciting barrel race to watch, as people are not going to pay a lot of money to enter, unless they think they have a chance at a check.

Re: Calming products?

Quietex is something that I have used and it seems to work. I give the oral paste, which you give 2 hours before you run/perform, but it also comes in a daily dose formula. I have never used the daily dosage, but would not be afraid to try it as I have had good luck with the paste. It is a herbal ca...

I personally have not used them, but I have a friend that does and she has had good results. It is something that for sure won't hurt!

Re: best barrel racing saddle pads

I also have a csi pad and like it. Another pad that is really nice is the Wade saddle pad. I have used one and actually have one coming and they are super nice. Both pads seem to make a bad fitting saddle fit much better. Both the csi and the wade are more expensive than the wool pads, but I persona...

Girth Itch

My horse has girth itch and I was wondering what you guys put on it to get rid of it? I have been using M-T-G, but was wondering if there is something that people have had more success with? Also, does anyone have any tricks or ideas on what I can do to keep my cinch from rubbing it?

Thanks!

Re: Deep Seat

I learned to barrel race in a treeless saddle, it doesn't get any deeper than that! After that I rode a Pozzi, which is also deep seated. Changing from a treeless to a normal tree is a big change and I looked for a saddle with a deep seat, being the Pozzi. If you have not rode a treeless saddle befo...

Re: Qualifier and Frontier Barrel Saddles

I have a qualifier, if it wasn't a trophy saddle I would sell it. I am not a huge fan of it, but I prefer a deeper seat. I have an Ed Wright saddle and really like it, and I use to ride a Pozzi, also deep seated, before that, a sports saddle. I find it really low in the swells compared to other sadd...

Re: What draws you to a jackpot?

Added money is a big one for me and prizes are always nice as well. Like Doulbe D, I will skip the close jackpot if the further one is a better choice. I hate going to arenas that have no SAFE place to wait, especially when it is cold. Series are fun, if you can make them all, but often people can't...

Re: Drug testing at Barrel Races

Correct me if I am wrong, but do they not use urine for drug testing? I know at the tracks they do, as some horses that come off the track go on demand (by a whistle or some other que.) Either way, I agree it is a lot of work and expense that people are probably not willing to put up with. Like Rand...
