Re: Repo. Vets in Central Alberta

Who is the best Vet for AI in central Alberta? I have never AI before, I have raised lots of colts just always been live cover. Is it reasonable to have a budget of 1,500 for the vet fees to get a healthy mare in foal? Thank you for any advice and thoughts, I would be breeding her early next spring...

Re: ulcer care?

I use papaya juice.

For the baking soda, I would be interested in knowing the effects on changing the Ph of the stomach, and hind gut, as it is a base.

Re: CSI pads

I have 3 CSI pads, I find they offer more support, the flex plate helps disperse the pressure throughout the entire plate instead of the one specific spot. I find that if my saddle doesn't fit 100 percent this pad will save me from having to purchase a different saddle. They do conform to the horses...

Re: Infection in hocks

HA is hylauronic acid, synthetic joint fluid. My question is what vet are you using, as my vet can draw a culture any time of the day, he routinely does this on all wounds. He does a tap, swab, draws a baseline blood, then starts them on antibiotics. The blood he does in his clinic, the culture he s...

Re: Infection in hocks

After they have flushed the hock out, I would suggest they inject it with HA

Re: Best Saddle Pads

I don't know what is causing the bumps as the bumps are through the entire saddle pad top and bottom, more like creases maybe, I am bad at explaining. Feel free to message of FB me when you want to try the saddle pads out

Re: Best Saddle Pads

I have a 5 star that is 8 years old, and it hasn't compressed yet, however; I don't like how the pads now are coming out, I have noticed that all the 5 star have little bumps throughout the pad, mine has no bumps, and if I ever find one without the bumps I will buy it in a heart beat. I have a CSI a...

Re: Herniated disc:(

I have two herniated discs in my neck, it took a year to get the pain down to nothing. I did physiotherapy, massage therapy, exercised, and medications. Mine has settled down had one week of pain this year, took meds and it settled down again. I wouldn't suggest a chiropractor, as they manipulate th...

Re: Unstable filly

One thing you have to ask yourself is how much money are you willing to put into the horse. She has been to two trainers and has reverted back to her ways. This may be something that one cannot get out of her. I do know of an excellent trainer, if you are interested pm me and I will speak to him.

Things we did in 4h included making our own halters, building our own saddle stands, making a wool saddle pad.

If you are interested in any of these or more pm me and I will see if I still have the blueprints/directions

Re: Abscess

I should suggest xraying the foot to see how bad the abscess was. It could have affected the deep flexor tendon. My vet suggests using hoof magic, you can get this at green hawk or jones boys. This has worked really well for my two horses who abscessed.

Good luck

Re: Saddleright or CSI pad?

I have both, the CSI is really heavy compared to the saddle right, both seem to work well. The saddle right is thinner, so if your saddle is a little on the tight side, I would suggest this one.

Re: Need advice...how to get someone to honor guarantee

I believe that all auction sales say buyer beware, sorry you are out of luck. Every person has a different definition of sound, and he may have thought the horse was sound, did you ask if there was a vet check done? If you didn't or there wasn't then it is still buyer beware. I don't think that you ...
