Brewers yeast isn't itself a calmer. It does however contain B vitamins that are helpful in replenishing the B vitamins that are "lost" due to stress. You can find it at any health food store. Some "calming" herbs that can be used are chamomile, vervain, lemon balm, hops, passion...

Sounds like epiphysitis. Growing too rapidly can cause this. Watch the amount of concentrates being fed and make sure to feed a good mineral. And definitely consult with a good vet.

When this happens you definitely don't want to move them. Let them stay where they are until their muscles start to relax on their own. Then you can get them to where you need. I had a horse that tied up on me a few times and it was diet related. She would do it after fairly minimal exercise as well...
