I noticed Dreamchaser mentioned a running martingale. I find running martingales confusing for horses (and me). Some people seem to be able to work with them, but personally I can't. (I prefer a german martingale). With running martingales sometimes it seems the more ya try the worse it gets. If you...

I think it is interesting how times have changed. Years ago it was socially acceptable to smoke. Now most of the time it is unacceptable. In the past there were so many smokers, if you didn't smoke you were the odd man out. All I know for sure is how thankful I am that I was never tempted to try.

Perhaps the level of competion is different, but the competitiveness within the group of girls that are running here and now is very high. Past years of competition are behind and it is competitive now between the horses that ARE running. I'm with Chelsea in the sense that there are a lot of really ...

The best thing I have learned that has helped my nerves came from Judy Myllymaki. "Barrel Racing - It's what you do, not who you are. Don't let your performance in the arena dictate your self worth". If you are a rotten little person and you go and ride well and have a perfect fast run, people still...

How about soundness guarantees...? How do you know the person you've sold the horse to is honest too? What if you say the horse is 100% sound and 3 days later they call and say the horse is lame. Who knows what the horse has done or what they did with them. Would you take this case by case? Or shoul...

My opinion on navicular is this: 1) It is over diagnosed. It's not always navicular. Some vets, horse people etc. are quick to diagnose navicular. 2) Your farrier/horse shoer can cause your horse to get navicular by improper trimming. A farrier can allow a horse to get under run heels and contracted...

What do you think about people wanting to enter rodeos on your horse to see how they "stack up" against the competition before they buy them? I have been reluctant in the past to let people take my horses and haul them around. Mostly because I'm afraid the horse might be misrepresented by the person...

I would consult again with my vet - even just a phone call, consider the info and go with your gut, you know your horse best.

The Double J Lynn Mckenzie fit narrow horses with withers well. I'm not sure how they fit a short backed horse, they aren't short saddles. Do a google search for the Double J site and you can look at them. They are narrower in the gullet than the Frontier saddles I have seen. I have also seen Lynn M...

Okay...so you beat me to the post! I guess you were writing as I was! Now my post looks kind of silly as you already know that!

I have never had a problem with the riggin on any horse. I really like how it is cut away and you don't have to worry about any bulk.

The pro's and con's eh!

The Lynn Mckenzie's fit a narrower horse best I have found. They've got to have good withers. Not a saddle for a fat backed horse. I love the seat and how if feels to ride, but I am limitied to the number of different horses it fits well. The quality is really good. If I was to have one custom made,...
