Have any of you tried Quadrisol? I have used it and it so much more expensive than bute. It did seem to help when Zeek had his 30 day abscess, but bute seemed to work better. I was told it is a lot easier on these horses stomachs, but I just wanted someone elses opinion on it. T

Hey, It's me again with my two bits about shoeing. My husband ( a farrier) doesn't prefer natural balance over rims unless there is a problem. A problem being ring bone, the start of navicular, under run heels, too long of toe, etc. His reining clients demand them though, but on a rodeo horse, no. T...

In the past I have used Avon Skin So Soft Tea Tree Oil Water. No set measurement, but try 1 part SSS ( maybe a bit more) to 10 parts water and about 40 drops of tea tree oil. It's not great, but a whole lot cheaper if you have a bunch of beasts to do like me. Also, I have fed apple cider vinegar and...

When we have sold, we haul the horse to jackpots, rodeos, practice and vet checks. When money is in hand, they can take the horse but we don't sign a bill of sale or registration papers until the check has cleared. That is just our safety net. We haven't had to deal with many returned horses. T

Lanni, lots of great info. Were you suggesting to walk a horse that IS tying up? If so, I have to disagree. How I had it explained to me by an instructor at college was that the lactic acid builds up ( you know far more about how that happens than me) and if you keep moving them the acid can then ge...

barbed wyre, have you looked into the GE navicular shoe? It is a great help. It has seriously put a lot of horses back in the arena that were on their last legs. For further info contact Donna Collins at Hoof & Nail in Calgary. She is very informative about all her products. 1-403-252-1661. Good...

Are they maybe lacking something in their feed? I have never had a fence chewer either, but an instructor I had in college said most fence chewers are missing something in their diet. Just a thought. Also, i have heard of people that put carpet "smooth edging" on their rails. It sure hurts my feet w...
