I have to agree with tdw about randa and aanderson holding their own. Like tdw asked, when do want your horse to 'peak'? Or does that go on how broke (individual) they are? I haven't been to any futurities south either, but some of these girls in the North apparently can hold their own and would be ...

My 'team roper' said it is just too hard to sell a mare to a team roper because of the 'stigma' that goes along with her. Also. the mares we have had were very inconsistent. Some days they gave 110% and the next day they would buck your butt off before you would ride in the box!

I have not used the Easywalker, but I asked a similar question at a Milimaki clinic. They said that they had tried a whole bunch of different shoes and always went back to rims all the way around. All arenas are different and rims work well in all types of footing. Also, my feeling is if isn't broke...

I had this problem all fall. I gave 40 cc of penicillin daily for 5 days. As well, try bute or quadrisol for comfort and soak 2x daily with warm water and epsom salts ( isabella suggested add apple cider vinegar as well). If you have dug out the abscess that is when the betadine/sugar poultice will ...

Hey Mitch! My hubby suggests to build your arena on a slight slope (easy run off) and use at least 6 inches washed sand($$$$) (water runs through easier). Let me know how it goes and maybe I'll get an invite! T.

Does anyone know if there are any barrel jackpots in southern Alberta this spring and summer? Cardston, Ft. McLeod, Taber, Raymond or just somewhere? Desperate!!!

I raced up to six months with both my pregnancies, but i was getting pretty nervous about having a fall/ trip or ending up on the ground, period! I had a c-section with both pregnancies as well. My doc told me I could start riding about 3 weeks after but take it easy. NO ten mile rides. Believe me, ...

I'm new to the forum, so that is why I'm bringing up all these old topics. I'm in favor of Fiesta. I'm fairly partial to greys (never owned one though), and then I tend to side with the underdog ( her fire incident and repaired, smaller nostril.) The other nominees are great though.

Just wondering the order your feeding your horses. We have been told and found it works if you feed your hay first (20-30 min) before you feed your grain, the grain will be digested far easier and faster. Grain being any of your concentrates. Also, we have fed soya meal and B12 shots. Found both wor...

we buy and sell a few horses and have found the mares are just too hard to sell to 'cowboys'. we, ourselves, do not mind riding a mare, but the resale is just not there. we had a mare a couple of years ago we ran barrels on and headed off of. she was a nice girl, easy to be around, not 'mary' at all...

I have used quadrisol for muscle pain on my futurity horse and it seemed to work if used as recommended. It is quite a bit more expensive than bute, but my vet said it would work better and easier on the gut.
