Re: indoor ABRA's edmonton,, besides thorsby ??

We have 2 more booked at Blacklands - the next one is June 29 at 7pm and then July 13 at 7 pm. These will be a go, rain or shine. We have run a couple jackpots inside now, and the ground is awesome! If you have any questions, you can give me a shout at (780) 717-5099. They are on the ABRA website, t...

Re: Transporting horses across the line

As far as I have heard, there have been no changes to the border requirements for crossing, but i imagine your best bet would be to contact the border crossing that you will be going through and ask them directly. They will be able to tell you what you need 8o)

Re: Equine Herpes Confirmed Case in Alberta

Here is a direct link to the update...... http://www.facebook.com/#!/notes/moore-equine-veterinary-centre/update-for-the-ehv-1-situation-may-23-2011/228360513846212 I just re-read it, and since I copy and pasted the note, it looks as though they have edited it to say there have been no *new* cases r...

Re: Equine Herpes Confirmed Case in Alberta

Here is an update by Moore and Co, May 23, 2011: There have been no reported neurologic cases of EHV-1 in Alberta that we know about. Two of the respiratory cases in horses that attended the Ogden show have tested positive but, that was expected and discussed in our report from the last conference c...

Re: Thoughts, Opinions?

Porky - As far as I know, there have not been any races in Alberta with a $500 entry fee. So, if $500 is too rich, what about $250? Of course, the payout would be less, but 1st would still take home $3000+ and 8th would get their entry fee back. It would also be held in conjunction with a couple add...

Thoughts, Opinions?

I am thinking of putting on an open slot race here, and was wondering what peoples thoughts are on it. The basic premise would be a $500 entry fee, with 50 slots available. The payout would be 88% of entries into the pot ($22,000 payout), with 1st place being about $5000. It would pay 12 spots, with...

Re: Boots

I have used just about every boot out there, and I am LOVING my Iconoclasts! Of all the boots I have tried, I find they give the most support, with the neoprene being soft enough to actually conform to my horse's leg. I get hardly any dirt in these boots and the breathe great! Their only drawback is...

Thank You Hosts!!!

I just wanted to send out a big Thank You to all the people who are, have, or will be hosting a jackpot this year. It takes an incredible amount of work to put on a jackpot, big or small, and I don’t think that the hosts get thanked nearly enough! There have been some great jackpots and series alrea...

Re: Qualifier and Frontier Barrel Saddles

I don't have a Frontier, but I do have a Qualifier and I am in love with it!!! Fits my horse awesome and it is easy to ride in. When I was looking for one, I was looking for used, and I had a couple people tell me to check the tree, because apparently they had a batch come through with twisted trees...

Re: Drug testing at Barrel Races

I would LOVE to see drug testing at barrel races! I understand that it is not feasible at all of the smaller weeknight barrel races, but at bigger races, futurities, finals, etc I think it should be done. I think the TB/QH racing list of banned substances would be a great place to start...

Re: Tassimo - Coffee Maker

We have a Tassimo and love it!! Ours came from Sears, and it works great, but the coffee is STRONG!! If you like it strong, that's good, if not, you can dilute it with more water...I think there is a way to make it weaker, but I would have to look in the manual. Other than that, a cup only takes a c...

Re: 1998 gray stallion "CATABIRD"/1999 mare "BBR Zilla"

Maybe try contacting Russ Sazwan...I believe he stands the stallion Birdzilla and may have some records on who owns the mares, etc. If you google Sazwan Speed Horses, you will find his website which has contact info on it.

Hope that helps 8o)

I think, as another person said, your best bet is to contact Alison Lowe and she can answer all your questions correctly and address any concerns you may have 8o)

Re: Saddle Fitting - HELP!

I'm not saddle maker by any means, but I've gone through a few saddle fitting issues, and I was told that if your saddle is tipping forward, as you are describing, it is too wide. I would try something a bit narrower and see if that helps. As for the saddle sliding back, do you ride with a breastcol...
