Leasing a horse- Need info please

Postby Steph » Thu Jul 16, 2009 12:04 pm

I am wondering what I should charge to lease out our horse. He is a 17yr old all-around horse. The family is looking to use him for break-away. And maybe buy him. I am just needing info on a contract to draw up or going the insurance route. And what to charge monthly? What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance. :-D

make sure you draw up a contract saying that they are fully responsible for the horses upkeep (vet bills, farrier bills, exercise, maintaince, etc). Also make sure you outline whan the payments are due, and what will happen if they miss payments. As well, if you are including their rent payments in their final amount when they purchase the horse, make sure that is clearly spelled out. make sure you lay everything out clearly, and that you get everything in writing and is signed by both parties.
