I am curious to know opinions on running BRN4D vs ABRA formats.
I host a series in Southern Alberta and it was suggested that a .5 second split was not enough time to give for people who are running colts. In some ways I agree and in other ways I think it's a goal they could strive to gain throughout the series.
We use a standard pattern - which is quite large for colts so, I'm asking for opinions to gain some perspective.
What do you think should be run on a standard pattern? 1 second split, .7 second split, or a .5 second split?
If we go with BRN4D the format choices are as follows:
For example Fast time being a 18.3:
Option 1 (.5 split)
Option 2 (.5, .5, 1 split)
Do you think that a .5 second split is enough time to give our colt riders in a 4D format? Do you think that a fast time plus .5, .5, .5 or a fast time plus .5, .5 and 1 is fair?
If we go with ABRA it is a 7/10 split in the open and a 1 second split in the youth. How many of you would like to see a 7/10 split in the open? Or a 1 second split in the open?
I guess I'm wanting to know what exactly is the fairest way to format a standard pattern? Think about it and I'm super open to all opinions as in the end, we want it to be as fair as possible to all competitors weather they bring seasoned horses or colts.
