Your experiences of electric fence

Postby Girl » Mon May 05, 2014 3:52 pm

Looking for your experiences of electric fence. (which is the best buy) :-D

• I need enough to cover up to 4 acre area, so price is important.
• I want to use it each summer, so I am looking for durability.
• And finally I need something that I can move easily from one area to another.

All your comments are greatly appreciated.

We use the rope style with rebar and insulators. Not fancy but cheap and durable.
Whatever you decide to use, Princess Auto has very good prices.

I personally would not use rebar. I have used the white posts with one inch white tape and it has worked very well. It is easy to move, just have to make sure you check it when gets windy as if not on good could blow off. I do have the thinner tape now and would think this one may be harder to get blown off. The big cost is the stakes though, if you don't plan on moving it too much you could use wood stakes and put your own insulators on them which would be cheaper.
