Hi I was just wondering if anyone can tell how is the best way to have a saddle shipped from the states? Or any experiences that anyone has had. Thanks

I had a Bob Marchell saddle sent up. It was sent by UPS. It took about 10 days. I had it
sent to the UPS store in Drayton Valley, because I live in the country and only have a box number. I kept looking online to track it with a tracking number. The day I had thought it should arrive I called the UPS Store and because there was a large delivery price on it they sent it back. The amount was around $200.00. The UPS store gave me the number of the contract delivery person that they sent it back with I was able to call them and meet them in Drayton Valley and pick it up from there. My advise keep up with the tracking. If I would not have happened to call that day it would have ended up who know where. If I had a town address I am sure it would have been no trouble.

I just had my Triple Creek shipped up from Alabama. I used USPS and had it shipped right to my post office box. It did take longer than UPS, but not much. It shipped out on April 14 and arrived at the Post Office on April 29. So it took 15 days which isn't much longer. BUT here's the clincher - the price difference is ENORMOUS. UPS was going to be about 220.00 and post office service was only 85.00 with extra insurance. For 5 days longer, the post office was so much cheaper!!! I saved 135.00 which I can now use towards other foolish items that I don't really need....like a Luan's Breast collar...with extra bling...hehe :-)

Joleen, when UPS delivers they'll want money or they won't give you the package. FedEx will deliver, and they'll send you a bill in the mail, and USPS won't charge you nothing. Those are my experiences anyways

So what would be your pick to have something shipped?

Just to let you know that when I used USPS there were no hidden fees at all. When I went to pick up the saddle I was expecting duty - NONE. It was the 85.00 flat - and I even counted the stamps on the box and it came to 85.00. When you use UPS there is duty and a handling/broker fee - that's what gets you in the pocket book. And UPS will not let you even drool on the package until you pay!

I buy quite alot from the states and always use USPS. No problems at all. I have used UPS once and boy did I pay - literally!!! Expensive!! I recently had a saddle shipped to a depot just across the line and I picked it up. All I had to pay was the tax. Under the free trade agreement, there is no duty if it is made in the US. Good Luck!!

USPS is your best bet... Just make sure it's insured and you got a tracking number and you should be good to go :Sun:

I had one sent up from Delware, cost $60 and just had it sent through the mail. Make sure you get a tracking # and you should be good to go. There were no hidden charges or anything like that when I had it sent through the mail either - paid exactly what I was told by the shipper and nothing on arrival. Good luck!
