When we bought our dog in Montana we were told we also needed a net health paper check as well as the shots. From a U.S. vet. It wasn't difficult, we just met the breeder at the local vets, vet inspected puppy, signed a paper saying he was healthy and away we went. We did have to pay GST at the border on the dog. Not sure if that is because he was a working dog or for all dogs. We applied for and got the GST back because he is a working dog.
